UNICOR/FPI has the manufacturing technology to produce cables and assemblies with challenging shielding requirements, including those hardened against electromagnetic pulses (EMP) by many sources, from nuclear attack and munitions explosions to lightning strikes and power surges.
Standard shielding offers little protection against EMP. However, our EMP-hardened cables and connectors meet stringent military/aerospace requirements, and are in use worldwide to mitigate the effects of EMP on mission-critical command centers, military vehicles, missiles, naval vessels and avionic, navigation and communication equipment.
UNICOR/FPI has the capacity to build a broad spectrum of high-reliability, multi-strand fiber optic cable assemblies in single- and multi-mode using military-qualified components. We can customize these assemblies with a wide range of cable types, configurations, interconnects, accessories and terminations.
Our fiber optic cable assemblies are tested against very stringent defense standards for use in demanding military, security and communications applications, including submarine navigation equipment, aircraft instrumentation and field communications.

Because UNICOR/FPI produces cable assemblies in-house, we have the equipment and the skilled technicians to remanufacture and upgrade cable assemblies. While labor-intense, our Electronics Group has the personnel and surge capacity to perform quick turnaround on remanufactured cable assemblies, making this process timely and cost-effective. We also can re-engineer and custom-manufacture cable assemblies for equipment that is no longer in production.
